About Me
Academic History
I am a PhD student at Virginia Tech's Geobiology program being advised by Dr. Michelle Stocker. I received my bachelor's degree in Zoology from State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego. At Oswego, I worked with Dr. Jennifer Olori to find a correlation between skull roof thickness and compactness and ecology. At Virginia Tech, I conduct research with fossils from the Late Triassic, more specifically anuran fossils.
Why I chose to get a PhD
I decided to pursue a PhD to become a researcher and a professor. I have a passion for outreach and find it an integral part of introducing science to underrepresented people in STEM. When I teach, I like to use personal experience and knowledge to generate discussion from my students. I try to instill the idea that it is more important to think critically, than know straight facts
In my free time
In my free time, I like to read science fiction and fantasy literature like Lord of The Rings or books on history and philosophy. I am an avid outdoors man that is constantly looking to get away into nature, but do not mind also staying at home and playing some video games.
